China Focus is a student-led publication that aims to engage a broad audience. Its editors collaborate with contributors from UC San Diego and beyond to help bring diverse perspectives and voices to the public conversation.
Editor-in-Chief
Tara is pursuing a master’s of international affairs at the School of Global Policy and Strategy with a regional focus on China. She studies the environmental impact of China’s renewable energy transition with the Power Lab at UCSD. She has written for Smithsonian magazine and The Morning Call. She has a BS from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a double major in environmental science.
Digital Media Manager
Margaret is pursuing a master’s of Chinese economic and political affairs at the School of Global Policy and Strategy with a focus on Chinese foreign policy. She previously helped manage the Asian Security grantmaking portfolio at the Carnegie Foundation in New York City and was a research associate for U.S. foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC. She has a BS from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service.
