China Forum Opening Event: Finding a New Equilibrium
August 12, 2019 @ 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
The 21st Century China Center at the School of Global Policy and Strategy invites the public to attend the opening event for the inaugural UC San Diego Forum on U.S.-China Relations titled “Finding a New Equilibrium: Insights on U.S.-China Ties from High-Level Practitioners.”
Confirmed speakers include two former national security advisors in Republican and Democratic administrations Tom Donilon, chairman of the BlackRock Investment Institute, and Stephen Hadley, principal of RiceHadleyGates LLC, as well as Ambassador Cui Tiankai.
As the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and China enters uncharted waters and a decades-long consensus in favor of engagement frays, the search is on for a new equilibrium. Informed by their rich personal experiences working with China at the highest levels, our speakers will offer insights into how the U.S. and China can restrain competitive excesses, sustain cooperative energies and work out a modus vivendi given their increasingly divergent interests in the 21st century.
Thank you to our sponsors Coril Holdings Ltd., East West Bank, Legler Benbough Foundation, Qualcomm and The Asia Group Foundation, and individual donors Kurt M. Campbell and Anonymous.
A reception will follow the event.
Location: The Great Hall (directions). Closest parking will be at the Pangea Parking Structure (Pangea Drive at N. Torrey Pines Rd.) A parking permit is required and can be purchased at the pay stations. There will also be signage to direct attendees from the structure to the event venue.
