China Focus 2020 Virtual Symposium
November 19, 2020 @ 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
The China Focus 2020 Virtual Symposium will be Thursday November 19th, at 5 pm PT, conducted over Zoom. This exciting event will combine elements of informal debate, town hall-style discussion with audience participation, and concluding insights provided by China and Asia Pacific experts of the School of Global Policy and Strategy. To adapt to the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, we have selected a topic that is relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic, China, and the next U.S. administration’s policies.
All GPS and UCSD students are welcome to participate in the debate, or as audience members. We encourage anyone from other universities or the broader community to join us in the audience! Those interested should sign up via the QR code on the flyer above or through the link, by November 16th.
Questions to Ponder:
-
- What do you think about the Chinese government’s management of the pandemic? What costs did it incur on the economy, and society in general?
- What feature(s) of Chinese society/institutions/government affect the management of COVID-19?
- What can the U.S. learn or avoid from how the Chinese government managed the pandemic?
